In the final played in Barbados, Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling match. Winning the toss and batting first, Team India scored 176 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets. In reply, South Africa could score 169 runs in 20 overs losing eight wickets. With this win, Team India ended the 11-year drought of ICC Trophy. Team India had earlier won the Champions Trophy in 2013, whereas Team India has won the T20 World Cup after 17 years. Team India has won a World Cup after 13 years; Team India had won the ODI World Cup in 2011.

In response, the South African team could score only 169 runs. Captain Rohit gave the last over of South Africa’s innings to Pandya. He took 2 wickets for 8 runs in this over.
